You are also less than an hour from Luray caverns, as a substitute. From critically acclaimed author Ausma Zehanat Khan, Blackwater Falls is the first in a timely and powerful crime series, introducing Detective Inaya Rahman. You could stay in Front Royal, VA and you'd be within about a 2 hr drive of both Blackwater Falls and Harpers Ferry. ![]() I'm assuming the drive to/from is not part of the weekend, so you have two full days to sightsee? That's not a lot for all that, but I'd forget about Lost Caverns. ALl those places have some decent hotel choices like Fairfield Inn and Suites, Hampton Inn, etc.ĪS far as I know, Davis doesn't have much, no hotels like that. If this trip is not mainly for outdoors, hiking, etc., I'd stay in Front Royal or Winchester. But it will take you longer to get to places from there as it's in the park a bit, which is why I liked it. It's closed for some renovations so should be even better when re-opened. ![]() I stayed in their Lodge twice and it was really nice. If I were going to stay in that area, I stay at the Blackwater Falls State Park lodging. I wouldn't stay in Davis, but I"m not even sure there are any decent hotels there. Great photo ops! There is also the historic Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park. Gorgeous small park with boardwalk along huge boulders and thick greenery. Would they prefer historic Harpers Ferry? Or doing Lost World Caves? If you do the caves, I would highly suggest also stopping at Bear Town St. Or, skip Lost World Caverns and do the Harpers Ferry to Seneca Rocks loop. I would head to either Lost World Caverns, (in Lewisburg, WV) or Seneca Rocks first, then do a loop to the other and then back home. How long is this "weekend"? Two nights? Three nights? Just getting to those locations from Holly, MI (if that is where you are coming from) would be an all day trip. ![]()
